Project 52: Week 1
It’s been about two weeks since I took the plunge into analog photography with a Leica M2. In the first two weeks I’ve gone through two rolls of film, which has inspired me to pursue a year long film project, Project 52.
The goal of this project is to photograph with one roll of film each week (minimum). I believe that diving into analog photography head first is the best way to learn and improve my skill set.
I’ll be documenting the journey through this blog…
Roll #1 - Kodak Portra 400 @ Box Speed, Voightlander Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 II MC, Leica M2
I had never photographed with film before, so I was a bit nervous for this first roll. The roll consisted of shots around the beautiful Santa Clara University campus, in the Schott Athletic Excellence Center, and of the Lunar New Year festivities in San Francisco’s Chinatown.
These photos from this first roll have me hooked on film! The colors & tones produced by Portra 400 evoke a feeling of nostalgia. I love how soft the images feel and I’m looking forward to photographing other subject matter with this film.
