Project 52: Week 5
Roll #5 - Kodak Gold 200, Voightlander Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 II MC, Leica MP
I decided to give Kodak Gold 200 a shot this week. Kodak Gold 200 is a consumer film that is relatively cheap.
There are a ton of reviews on the stock, so I won’t dive into the technical aspects here…
The first photos were taken in an empty parking lot in Downtown Oakland. There were clouds in the sky, but when metered correctly the photos came out with a ‘light feel’ with vibrant colors. I like the way the colors turned out in the first few photos - not sharp and deep.
The third pic was taken in a dark room the Hobolite Mini serving as the key light. I thought the colors were also lighter, but fairly true to what I saw.
The sunrise photos I took with Gold 200 make me want to do an entire sunrise & sunset session with this film stock. I love the way the oranges subtly pop. The purples also provide a nice touch to the image.
The final photo was made during pre-game of a Santa Clara University Men’s Basketball game. The colors feel ‘old’ and gives the photo an aged feeling. The lighting inside the Leavey Center isn’t particularly bright, so the film stock helps to brighten the image.
I’m definitely looking forward to using the other rolls of Kodak Gold 200 that I have.
